First of all, we must understand what we mean by branding since we often confuse the difference between Logo, Identity, and Branding.

  • Logo: is the symbol to identify a brand.
  • Identity: it is what encompasses all the visual aspects that are part of branding, for example, colors, typographies, uses of the logo, etc.
  • Branding: So, when we talk about branding, we must be very clear that a brand is what people say, think, and feel concerning a product, service, or company.


It is a process you cannot control but can influence.

How to create a unique brand?

Many entrepreneurs are driven by the "go big or go home" work ethic, i.e., all or nothing. But this approach often backfires when applied to marketing.

Some entrepreneurs spend too much time and money on large marketing initiatives that turn out to be ineffective or, at the other end of the spectrum, are too successful to the point that they cannot keep up with customer demand.

Other common mistakes are focusing promotional efforts on marketing channels irrelevant to the target audience or copying competitors' marketing efforts.

We know that as entrepreneurs, we can't afford to make these kinds of mistakes, right? Sometimes you only have a few months to make an impact in the minds of consumers, so it's essential to develop a memorable brand that directs your marketing efforts toward platforms and methods that effectively communicate brand ideals.

1. Determine who your target audience is

When building your brand, remember who you're trying to reach and how your brand can meet their specific needs.

Take the time to gather specific information:

  • What are their behaviors?
  • What do they like to do?
  • What is their lifestyle?
  • What are their aspirations?

2. What should your brand experience be like?

Even if you are clear on the points, I have already made about what makes up a brand experience. There are certain key aspects to avoid your efforts being useless.

Yes, what we are about to tell you now is that you must follow it to the letter, because otherwise, your brand experience may convey the wrong impression.

So, what makes a brand experience work?

  • Consistency

Your customers' experience must be consistent with your brand personality (psst, this is where the brand personality archetypes technique comes in handy, which I explain more about here).

  • Consistency and quality

A good brand experience is consistent and reflects the quality of your product or service at all times.

  • Emotion

Of course, the experience you provide for your customers must be exciting! Don't forget to work on the same type of emotion continuously. And if you are interested in delving deeper into the subject-

  • Expectation

You have to make your experience go a step beyond expectations. For example, through a thank you card or a gift for your client's birthday. Maybe it could be a phone call after hiring you or that "extra" they didn't expect? There are many possibilities, be creative.

As you will see, bringing all these qualities together in the different elements of your brand experience will be unforgettable!

So, the only thing left to do is to take action. For that, I want to illustrate with an example that will awaken your imagination and expose you to new possibilities in your brand experience.

3. Understand your customers

The first and most important thing in making your customers fall in love with your brand is knowing and understanding where they are coming from. That means you have to know exactly to whom to offer your products.

You must be very critical in defining your audience. A broad demographic description uses many products, but most can be narrowed down to differentiate the "primary" audience from the secondary.

A game can appeal to the young and the old, but the brand must decide which demographic is its primary target and focus on that.

You have to make your brand appeal to those who are your primary target and who are most interested in a product or service like yours.

It's dangerous to target a broad audience thinking it's better because it's bigger. Here it is true that "quantity does not equal quality." You have to know what description of a customer or well-defined person is who spends the most and buys the most in the product or service category in which you compete. A broad approach will not let any audience know it is for them.

4. Create a message to express your brand

You must communicate the value of your brand simply and clearly. Communicate your brand value with a clear and straightforward message that can help them identify the critical aspects of who you are and what you offer. A message is an opportunity to make an emotional connection with your consumers.

5. Be loyal to your brand

We recommend that you don't change your brand frequently as this can confuse your customers and make building a brand more difficult. With these steps, we hope you will be motivated and more interested in building a unique and, above all, successful brand.
